Delete your data

Your Distil journal is stored on your phone. There is no Distil account to close and no cloud journal for us to delete remotely.

Delete a single entry

Open the entry, open its menu and choose Delete. Confirm the deletion. The entry's note, transcripts and history are removed from the app database. Residual encrypted audio files are cleaned up at a later app startup once they are at least one hour old.

Delete everything on this phone

Open Android Settings → Apps → Distil → Storage (or Storage & cache) → Clear storage. You can also uninstall Distil. This removes the app's local journal, recordings, transcripts, history, settings and downloaded models. Save separate copies of anything you need before doing this: we cannot recover this data.

Remove only the AI models

In Distil, open Settings → AI models and choose Delete downloaded models. This frees the model storage while keeping your notes and recordings. AI features need another download before you can use them again.

Delete a message you sent us

Email mydistil.com@gmail.com from the address you used to contact us and ask to delete your support correspondence. Include enough information to identify the message; you do not need to attach your journal. Our retention policy is: Support correspondence is kept indefinitely unless you ask us to delete it. Deletion requests are handled on request; copies may remain temporarily in Google’s backup systems or where retention is required by law..

Deleting local app data does not delete emails already sent or copies you saved in another app. Those services may have their own deletion controls. Read the privacy policy for more detail.
